getting 'stronger'

The very first winner of "American Idol," Kelly Clarkson (above), has just begun the North American leg of her "Stronger Tour 2012." This weekend, she will perform at Radio City Music Hall.

TELL ME MORE: In October, Clarkson released her fifth studio album, "Stronger," which Entertainment Weekly called "Clarkson's older-better-tougher-smarter album." Last weekend she embarked on a tour with special guest Matt Nathanson to support the new album. Since winning "Idol" on Sept. 4, 2002, Clarkson has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide, 10 million albums in the U.S. and has had nine singles in the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart.

QUOTE: "When I auditioned [for "Idol"], my apartment in Los Angeles had recently burned down and I had a box of photographs to my name. I figured I'd get to sing and make some money to pay the bills. Nobody thought that show was going to be what it is now." Kelly Clarkson, via her website
