Kelly Clarkson
Biography: Kelly Clarkson, winner of American Idol's first season. Born in Fort Worth and raised in Burleson, Kelly grew-up with standard ambitions of serving the humanity. She desired to be Marine Biologist. Thankfully, those dreams were abandoned forever when she joined the school choir, at the age of 13, after her teacher found her singing to herself in the corridor. It was the first time her talent was found. While still in school, she performed in state and regional singing competitions, amazing the audience with her voice. After graduation, she moved alone to Los Angeles. With high hopes, she started sending out her Demo-Tape in order to achieve her first step in the music industry. Meanwhile, she managed to get some very odd jobs, such as Telemarketer, Red-Bull promo-girl, waitress, pharmacy assistant, movie theatre and even at the zoo. She also was an extra on Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and worked briefly with songwriter Gerry Goffin. Kelly was forced to move back to Burleson when her apartment in L.A. was burned down, leaving all her hopes high above. But her best friend, Jessica, refuse to let her down. She heard about Auditions for ! the sing ing reality American Idol, being carried out all over the US. She suggested Kelly try her chance. That chance was of once in a lifetime. Kelly impressed the judges, who put her through to the next round. Through the competition she sang famous songs of artists as Aretha Franklin and Bette Midler. She became a favorite, and won in the final with the song A Moment Like This, earning 58% of the audience vote. Her career seemed never to be that high. On October 5, 2002, Clarkson's first single, A Moment Like This, which was also her winning song, broke the charts and reached for 52 to number 1 (and broke a record held by The Beatles). Not long after, Kelly's first album, Thankful, was released by RCA Records, on April 15, 2003. It was certified double platinum on May 2003. Another singles from this album, that became hits as well, were Low, The trouble With Love Is (which was featured in Love Actually's soundtrack, and Miss Independent. In December 2003 she participated in World Idol and was placed second. On November 30, 2004, Kelly released her second album, Breakaway. This album stated the beginning of her Solo Career, now that this is not a part of her Idol's winning. She co-worked on the album with artists as Avril Lavigne and Max Martin. The album featured more hit-singles: Breakaway (also from The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement's soundtrack), Since You Been Gone, Behind These Hazel Eyes, and Because Of You. Kelly's second album, Breakaway, is getting her one step closer to becoming a real superstar! Both Since You Been Gone and Breakaway were clarified Platinum x4, and Because Of You is played non-stop in US and all around the world. Walk Away has just hit the radios and is playing non-stop in the US as well. She also got 2 Grammy Awards in the 2006's Grammy Ceremony. Since You Been Gone was awarded Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, and Breakaway was awarded Best Pop Vocal Album. Kelly recently received an award for Favorite Female Singer for the Kid's Choice Awards. However, she was not able t! o attend the actual avent. As a person, Kelly is much loved by her fans. She never misses a meeting with her fans, even if she's sick. She prefers not to speak about her love life, and therefore, nothing is known about it. Given such qualities and characters, no doubt Kelly is not going to lack success in the next years to come. Expand
