For all of you aspiring singers looking to make it big the easy way, (that one was for you, Eric Church!), you probably shouldnt sign up for ABCs newest competition, Duets. According to Kelly Clarkson, its no walk in the park; especially compared to American Idol and The Voice. And she should know. Shes been on both shows!
It gives the kids an opportunity that I didnt have when I did Idol, says Clarkson of her new reali! ty gig, Duets. Nobody really was guiding us or helping us. And I could have really used it. So that kind of turned me on about the show.
Also, I love that we get to compete with them so were not just watching, she continues. I have to be honest with you, its way more challenging than I thought it was going to be! Its a lot more work than people have to do on Idol or The Voice!
Her competitor, Robin Thicke (swoon!), who also spent some time working on The Voice this season, was equally intrigued by the opportunity to get into the game, telling reporters that he decided to sign on as soon as he heard that the job allowed him and his fellow coaches to sing every week.
I wouldnt be comfortable just sitting there judging. Its not my bag baby, explains Thicke. But to have the opportunity to perform and sing and give my gift back, thats the joy for me.
