MEET the quiet achiever who's making a big impression on the world's greatest musicians.

As Australia watches a handful of talented teenagers chase their dreams on The Voice, 17-year-old Natasha Duarte is climbing the charts with the infectious pop single Wanted To Feel, reported The Daily Telegraph.

The western Sydney singer won the teen division of the prestigious International Songwriting Competition with the hit.

The competition was judged by major artists including Tom Waits, Kelly Clarkson, Ozzy Osbourne and Tori Amos. The overall winner was New Zealand singer Kimbra

Duarte wrote the song when she was only 15 and it has become a favourite with her growing online fan base as well as those she is winning over on the Kool Skools tour.

"I found out I won when I got a text from a fan saying congratulations - I was in disbelief," she said.

Duarte started singing when she was seven, playing guitar when she was 12 and writing songs soon after. She is now devoting her energies to finishing her debut album.

While Wanted To Feel has a Bangles pop edge, this up-and-comer loves to rock.

"I turned my par! ents on to Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones and The Beatles," Duarte said.
