Republican Kelly Clarkson Vows To Vote For President Obama
In a surprise twist from someone who was once vocally in favor for Republican candidate Ron Paul, singer Kelly Clarkson has stepped forward and has vowed to vote for Barack Obama come the November election.
This time around just weeks before the general election, Clarkson has come out to support president Barack Obama. During her tour in Europe, the singer told The Daily Star, Ive been reading online about the debates and Im probably going to vote for Obama again, even though Im a Republican at heart.
Why is Kelly Clarkson having a change at heart? Well, it seems as though it has a lot to do with Obamas current views on marriage equality. Clarkson goes on to explain in her own words, I cant support Romneys policies as I have a lot of gay friends and I dont think its fair they cant get married. Im not a hardcore feminist but we cant be going back to the 50s.
Clarkson, who hails from the conservative state of Texas continues saying that Obama is a great guy, adding that shes also a big fan of First Lady Michelle Obama because she has been busy promoting better education and healthy diets, which is something we could all use a dose of reality on.
Kelly Clarkson isnt the only American Idol alum to support marriage equality. Fellow American Idol winner, Carrie Underwood told The Independent, As a married person myself, I dont know what its like to be told I cant marry somebody I love and want to marry. I cant imagine how that must feel. I definitely ! think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love.
Perhaps Clarksons support is a tell tale sign of how Barack Obama is doing amongst swing voters.
