Not everyone knows that one of the songs on One Directions #1 debut album, Tell Me a Lie, was written by Kelly Clarkson. Now, Kelly tells the U.K. paper The Daily Star how she got over being a writers snob and allowed the British boy band to record it.

Giving away my songs is not something I do lightly, explains Kelly. Im very particular about that because my songs are like my babies.Im such a writers snob. People have asked for songs and Im like: I cant stand their voice, theyre not singing my song.

But when Kellys old pal Simon Cowell, the guy whos helping drive One Directions career, came to her and asked her for a song, Kelly says she was willing to consider the idea.

Let me hear them first, Kelly says she told Simon. She mustve liked what she heard, because she then handed over the song. I like the story of them, how they came together as a group, she said. One Direction have worked so well in America as well as the U.K., because people love a story, plus, they have this innocence about them that attracts people.

Kelly also admits she wasnt planning to record the song herself anyway, because it didnt fit in with the rest of t! he mater ial on her current album. Now, shes laughing all the way to the bank.
