Kelly Clarkson hits the Country top 40
While Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) remains at No. 1 on USA TODAY's Hot AC airplay chart and at No. 5 on the Top 40 chart, the new country mix of Mr. Know It All breaks into the top 40 of the Country chart. While Kelly has had previous country hits as a duet partner for Reba McEntire and Jason Aldean, it's the first time she has made the country chart on her own.
So maybe it's only fitting that Carrie Underwood's Good Girl -- currently No. 8 on the Country chart -- is now climbing the Hot AC chart, as well (at No. 37 this week).
Other Idols in the top 40 of one of USA TODAY's airplay charts: Lauren Alaina, Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson, Casey James, Adam Lambert, Mandisa, Ruben Studdard and Elliott Yamin.
Adam's Never Close Our Eyes makes its debut on the American Idol airplay chart this week at No. 87. Three stations have picked up Adam's single early: Alice@97.3 in San Francisco; 98.5 KRZ in Wilkes-Barre, Penn.; and Mix 102.9 in Dallas.
