Weekly Chart Notes: 'Glee,' Zac Brown Band, Kelly Clarkson

'SURVIVE' SURVIVES: Happy birthday, "I Will Survive." And, so you're back. The song first arrived on the Billboard Hot 100 on this date (Dec. 16) in 1978 when Gloria Gaynor 's classic original debuted at No. 87. Twelve weeks later, it reached No. 1, where it remained for a total of three nonconsecutive weeks. Upon the 33rd anniversary of the anthem's chart arrival, the song is back on the Hot 100 courtesy of the "Glee" cast, whose mash-up of it with Destiny's Child like-themed "Survivor" debuts at No. 51. Living up to its name, "I Will Survive" has become a frequent visitor to the Hot 100, having now appeared on the chart in each decade dating to the '70s. Following Gaynor's recording, Safire sent her version to No. 53 in January 1990. Coincidentally, her remake also debuted on Dec. 16 (1989). Last month, Kelly Clarkson challenged her fans to submit videos of a predetermined dance routine to be used in her clip for "What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger)." "I'd like everyone to join me in my global flash mob!" the pop star wrote. On Wednesday (Dec. 14), the finished clip was revealed, with shots of Clarkson fans performing the routine interspersed with glossy performance footage of the former "American Idol" star. At the beginning of the clip, Clarkson is sitting in a video control room, watching her fans show off their best dance moves while apparently signaling actors to get in place for a flash mob. Flash mobs just found a new theme song, courtesy of the just-released video for Kelly Clarksons latest single, Stronger (What Doesnt Kill You) her second single off Stronger . Like some of her previous vids, the clip is half Clarkson on a stage, full attitude with the microphone, sassily walking around singing her story. The other half explains how shes been wronged: In this case, the story is essentially a giant It Gets Better/Cant Hold Us Down dance-off the world over. Everybody is getting stronger all over the place and whether its an exercise class, the beach, or Times Square, its the perfect place to let loose and move on. Its Since U Been Gone round two. Clarksons got your back. Watch the video below: My favorite part may be around 2:50, when Clarkson ditches the studio and the band and joins her fans for an old-fashioned dance party. Her goofy expressions plus that karate chop remind me why Ive always loved her. The awesome new vid isnt the only great news for Clarkson fans....
