Top 10 Kelly Clarkson Breakup Songs
Kelly Clarkson is Americas first Idol winner and still one of our absolute favorites. She is known for her songs about independence, female self-empowerment and more than anything, heartbreak. Clarkson has been deemed by some to be the 'Breakup Anthem Queen.' According to an interview with MTV.com, "I love a feisty song. I like to be sassy. That's usually a breakup song," Clarkson said. "It's really in your face." With this being said, heres a brief recap of the Top 10 Breakup Songs by Kelly Clarkson.
10. "Dont Waste Your Time"
The second single from her third album My December,, the song describes a girl trying to move away from her past and trying to tell the guy not to try to fix the problem because it hurts too much. This song is great because weve all been there. Its hard to let go but if you keep going back, youll never get past it.
9. "Cry"
This song is off of Clarksons fourth studio album All I Ever Wanted, It is so much easier to pretend that everything is okay, grin and bear it than to actually admit that it is killing you inside. It shows the desperation and true heartbreak that occurs after a breakup. We can deny that it is happening and hope that maybe its not real but deep down; we know that well have to face reality. The song really captures how terrible the aftermath of heartbreak is. It is relatable and makes us realize that sometimes we need to face the truth in order to move forward.
8. "Never Again"
The first single from her third album My December, Clarkson graces us with yet another great breakup song. The song explains a situation where the guy was dating two girls at the same time or cheated on her with another girl and that although he may be able to! fool the new girl, shes too smart for that. It is kind of a you lost your chance and Im over it type of song. This is a great song because it puts the guy or a guy in his place. It shows that girls cant be fooled and really gives females empowerment to walk away from the situation.
7. "Already Gone"
This is definitely a different type of breakup song. It doesnt have the typical heartbreak story that a girl suffers from because the guy broke up with her. Actually, the song depicts the girl letting the guy go because she thinks its the best decision. For whatever reason, she knows she needs to leave even though its hard. I love this song because its not your typical breakup song. Most songs show how desperate and sad the girl is but in this case, it is her who is leaving the guy. Shes making a decision on her own and I love that the song has a twist to it.
6. "Gone"
Being in the relationship was always an emotional roller coaster, to the point where she could no longer handle it. From her second album Breakaway, Clarksons song talks about getting out of an unhealthy relationship. She never knew where she stood in the relationship. Things could go from good to bad in seconds and finally, she had enough. I like this song because it shows that the girl is in control and can decide to leave just as easily as the guy. I feel from personal experience that sometimes we get trapped in a roller coaster of emotions but were willing to deal with it. This song shows that sometimes we just have to let go and that when something isnt working, were not helping by staying.
5. "Walk Away"
Kelly Clarkson presents us with another powerhouse breakup song in her second album. Shes done with the guy playing games and wants a man who is willing to commit and to be real. Its catchy and really puts the guy or any guy on the spot. Girls want to be taken seriously just as guys do and we know what we want. What I love about Kelly Clarkson is that shes not afraid to state exactly how shes! feeling.! This song is able to do just that.
4. "Behind These Hazel Eyes"
Less about independence and empowerment and moving to a more sentimental and heartfelt break-up song, Clarkson has the ability to master both. The song shows the devastation after a breakup or finding out that hes with someone else. I love this song because its so relatable. Weve all had those relationships where you give yourself completely to another person and then one day, its all taken away or it ends. I love the video because the darkness and gloominess make it that much more powerful. The end is the absolute best because she throws the ring at this guy who she knows is in love with another girl. I feel like its her admitting that yes, Im going through hell and no Im not going to hide it.
3. "Mr. Know It All"
The first single from her fifth album Stronger, Clarkson proves that a guy who thinks he control his girlfriend like he owns her has got to go. A warning to guys or anyone really who thinks that they know everything, sometimes it backfires. This song is great because its all about girl power and not letting anyone especially a guy push you around. It sends a good message to girls everywhere that you shouldnt let others control you. Youre your own person and can make your own decisions. Get rid of the people who think that its okay to do that to you.
2. "Stronger (What Doesnt Kill You)"
Yet another chart-breaking hit from Kelly Clarkson. Moral of the song: Girls wont let boys step on them and keep them down. One of my absolute favorites, Clarkson really shows that girls dont need a guy to make them happy. I also think its an overall message to all listeners that you shouldnt let another person keep you down. If anything, you should take any insults that they throw at you to make yourself a stronger person. I love this song because it shows resilience and not letting anything stand in the way of living your life.
1. "Since U Been Gone"
From its first play, Since U Been Gone ! became on! e of the best breakup anthems of our time. Catchy, upbeat and all about female empowerment, Clarkson caught everyones attention. It is like a breath of fresh air after being trapped in a relationship and just being fed up with the whole situation. This is my favorite Clarkson song because its extremely catchy and just a fun song. Theres definitely those relationships where when it ends, you actually feel like a weight has been lifted. Some people just keep us down. Even if you havent been in a relationship Since U Been Gone, it just a fun song to listen to and it can relate to any situation whether it be a toxic friendship, work issues or anything else you can think of. Its a realization that youre better off like the light at the end of the tunnel.
