Kelly Clarkson has issued a statement strenuously denying claims made by record producer Clive Davis in his new autobiography.

Clarkson, who worked with David on her 2007 album 'My December', took offence to Davis stating that she had "sobbed hysterically" in his office following a discussion about including the song 'Since U Been Gone' on the album in his newly published memoir The Soundtrack Of My Life. Davis also wrote that 'My December' had no "pop hits" on it and that Clarkson also became upset at hearing him say this.

Posting a long statement on WhoSay, Clarkson attempted to set the record straight about the "false information" she claims Davis has published. "I refuse to be bullied and I just have to clear up his memory lapses and misinformation for myself and for my fans. It feels like a violation. Growing up is awesome because you learn you don't have to cower to anyone - even Clive Davis," writes Clarkson.

"First, he says I burst into 'hysterical sobbing' in his office when he demanded 'Since U Been Gone' be on my album. Not true at all. His stories and songs are mixed up. I did want more guitars added to the original demo and Clive did not. Max, Luke and I still fought for the bigger sound and we prevailed and I couldn't be more proud of the ! life of that song. I resent him dampening that song in any way."

Elsewhere in the statement, Clarkson states that she only cried once in the company of Davis, after he had told her she was "a shitty writer who should be grateful for the gifts that he bestows upon me".

Since Clarkson published her reply to the claims made in his memoir, Davis has responded in kind and claimed that he has "had every fact checked with five independent individuals who were present on a daily basis throughout it all. The chapter as it is written was thoroughly verified by each and every one of them. I stand by the chapter as written in my book."

Kelly Clarkson was among the winners at this year's Grammy Awards, taking home the prize for Best Pop Vocal Album.
