The 'Miss Independent' hitmaker has just released her 'Greatest Hits Chapter One' album to commemorate 10 years in the music industry since becoming the first winner of 'American Idol' in 2002, but she is struggling to get her head around reaching such a milestone. She added to the Daily Star newspaper: ''Because Of You' was my baby because I wrote it when I was a kid, then it went to number one worldwide, which meant a lot as a singer and a writer.' Now she has achieved her goals and become a pop star, Kelly is keen to help other aspirin...

Kelly Clarkson - Greatest Hits: Chapter One review

Considering the sheer number of contestants who have graced the stages of Simon Cowell's TV juggernauts over the past decade, it's quite remarkable that it's the careers of both the USA and the UK's first ever Idol winners that are still in the rudest health. Will Young topped the charts for the first time in eight years with 2011's return-to-form 'Echoes,' whilst other than a minor blip with the self-indulgent 'My December,' Kelly Clarkson has remained one of her generation's most bankable hit-makers ever since she stormed to glory back in 2002. Celebrating her impressively enduring career, 'Greatest Hits: Chapter One' shows how she has managed to sustain her success far longer than the likes of Ruben Studdard, Fantasia and Taylor Hicks. Quite simply, she's released a string of killer pop singles. The brilliantly defiant 'Since You've Been Gone' borrowed from the alt-rock of Yeah Yeah Yeahs and the feisty girl power pop o...

Singer Kelly Clarkson's holiday dreams have come true - she spent Thanksgiving and Christmas with a proper boyfriend for the first time. The Since U Been Gone hitmaker has always hoped she'd get to experience real love one day, and she couldn't wait for the holidays to come so she could spend some quality time with boyfriend Brandon Blackstock and his kids. "I've been praying for so long and he's so great."

'Glee' Recap: 'Dynamic Duets' Saves the Day With Kelly Clarkson, Fun.

Apparently that bit about Blaine joining the superheroes club a few episodes ago was not a typical throwaway "Glee" gag, but a setup for "Dynamic Duets," an episode of "Glee" that brings the show both back to its roots of a specific mix of insanity and earnestness, while subsequently moving the show forward into its new, uncharted future. It's a deft move, and something many fans weren't sure the show could even achieve, let alone achieve with a campy superhero themed episode. First, the new kids. Ryder and Kitty officially join the glee club and Finn kicks off his first official lesson with a bit fumbling and with the idea that the sectionals theme (hey, sectionals is next week!) is Foreigner they will only sing songs by Foreigner in foreign language in outfits of the world. When no one takes to the idea, Finn realizes he has to embrace the superhero obsession and comes back with the Dynamic Duets idea, pairing up the newbies in unlikely duos to p...

Kelly Clarkson says her relationship is her "best accomplishment"

She said: "I completely fell in love. I did! Welcome to Cheeseville! I don't know. Your priorities kind of shift and you become happier and all that stuff. It's probably my best accomplishment because I think, for me, especially, I just didn't think it would happen." However, the 'Mr. Knot It All' hitmaker insists her personal happiness doesn't mean she will stop writing angry songs. She joked: "[Brandon's] totally gonna p**s me off at some point, right? I'll write about it." Kelly recently admitted she wanted to marry Brandon - the son of her manager Narvel Blackstock - as soon as they met. American Music Awards provide plenty of pop

Image
The American Music Awards know their place in the landscape of music-related award shows. The ceremony doesn't have the prestige of the Grammys or the cheeky irreverence of MTV's Video Music Awards and certainly not the ratings of either. PHOTOS: Full results: American Music Awards winners list But where the show, which aired Sunday evening on ABC , excels is its ability to provide pop spectacle. Splashy commercials leading into the program featured a simple tagline: "Your playlist goes live." And this is one award show where radio hits not the trophies seem to matter most. "This is for all the haters who thought I'd be here for only one or two years," Justin Bieber declared as he clutched his win for favorite pop/rock male artist. "But I think I'm gonna be for a long time." Before Bieber became one of the biggest stars on the planet, it was thought his success would wane when puberty hit. Though the 18-year-old singer went on to be th...

Kelly Clarkson: 'Catch My Breath' - Single review

Image
Released on Sunday, Nov 25 2012 Published Thursday, Nov 15 2012, 14:22 GMT | By Lewis Corner | Add comment Although talent show finalists in recent years have embarked on worldwide domination, only time will tell if they have longevity. America's original 'Idol' Kelly Clarkson has somewhat effortlessly mastered both, enjoying 10 years of hit albums and sell-out tours; so it's only right she rounds off the era with what she does best - a stadium-rousing anthem. "Catching my breath, letting it go, turning my cheek for the sake of this show," Kelly admits, before she storms into h! er now trademark powerhouse chorus of soaring guitars and echoed beats. As always, her range and boombast remains the star of the show, along with an earworm melody and euphoric vocal runs. The final result is an apt way to mark an impressive milestone, but also leaves us suitably excited for the next 10 years. Watch the music video for Kelly Clarkson's 'Catch My Breath...

Kelly Clarkson in no rush to become country star

Originally published November 15, 2012 at 5:51 AM | Page modified November 15, 2012 at 6:24 AM LOS ANGELES There's a reason Kelly Clarkson has performed duets with country superstars like Reba McEntire, Jason Aldean and Vince Gill but never one of her Top 40 colleagues in the 10 years since she became the first "American Idol". They've turned her down - eight times. "I have, like, 5,000 duets in country music," Clarkson says, flashing a smile. "I don't have one in pop. That's legitimately because everyone turns me down. I'm not even kidding. I've asked sooo many artists to sing with me. Everyone legitimately turns me down! The only one that hasn't was Chris Daughtry." Kelly Clarkson Readies Greatest Hits CD, Releases Catch My Breath Video

Kelly Clarkson with Vince Gill (Jason Kempin/Getty Images) Can you believe its been a decade since Kelly Clarkson won American Idol and launched her career? Neither can she. As the singer steps into her 30s and celebrates 10 years of making music, she will release Greatest Hits Chapter One on Monday, November 19. Much of the focus of the album will be her pop materialthat is, after all, what she built her career upon. However, she has been dabbling more and more in country music (even moving to Nashville this year). And two songs on Greatest Hits will showcase this side of her musical persona. Perhaps the most obvious to make the cut is Dont You Wanna Stay, her duet with Jason Aldean that won two ACM awards this year. The second, though, is a new so! ng called Dont Rushanother duet, this time featuring Vince Gill . Its sexy retro-country, Clarkson said of the latter song in a statement, and as soon I heard it, I put the song on hold. My goal as a singer is to capture the sentiment o...

Why Kelly Clarkson doesn't listen to her old songs

Image
Text Size: A Small Text A Medium Text A Large Text Danny Moloshok/Reuters (CNN) You may be a fan of Kelly Clarkson's older hits, like "Since U Been Gone" and "Miss Independent," but the 30-year-old singer herself would rather tune out. "Sometimes, I can't listen to really old school songs ... because they just use so much autotune when it's not needed that it kills me. I can't listen to it," Clarkson told CNN. "What I love about that though is on songs like 'Miss Independent,' not only was it autotune, I just sounded di! fferent, I sounded so young." One of those voters was Kelly Clarkson, a self-avowed "Obama girl," who told MTV News on Monday that women's rights were a major reason she backed the president. "I'm not really down with Mitt Romney's ideals for throwing women back to the '50s," she told MTV News. "I'm for gay rights. I'm for anyone's rights.
