OFFSTAGE: To Know Kelly Clarkson Is to Love Her
Kelly Clarkson
The more I get to know Kelly Clarkson, the more I love her. In big ways, like when she helped Blake Shelton by mentoring (and being a big fan of) his team on The Voice. And for the way her power ballads keep popping up on country radio. And for the way she duets with some of country's finest, like Reba McEntire and Jason Aldean. Then I've recently discovered I also love Clarkson for the little reasons, like how she wore a black corset dress from good ol' Anthropologie to a Grammy post-party at Hollywood's swanky Chateau Marmont. As opposed to, say, Prada or Roberto Cavalli, whose threads also graced the pages of the April InStyle. And for the candor she has in interviews. In Rolling Stone, Clarkson admitted she doesn't mind losing at the Grammys "as long as I don't get beat by someone who sucks." She also says, and I wholeheartedly agree, that she does well with the soulful stuff. "I hear so many singers that sound like vanilla vodka, like they've never had their hearts broken or ripped out," she said. "It kills me."
