Kelly Clarkson to star in ABC singing competition series

ABC is getting into the singing competition series game with Kelly Clarkson and Lionel Richie.

Entering a field thats more crowded than ever (and, given all the shows on the air, arguably more popular than ever), ABC is launching Duets.

The show has Clarkson, Jennifer Nettles, Richie, and Robin Thicke traveling across the country looking for undiscovered talent. Each star will choose two singers to be their duet partners. Together, they will take the stage each week and perform in front of a live studio audience. In the end, only one duet will win, with the amateur receiving a recording contract.

Clarkson called the talent show completely different than other broadcast singing competitions.

They dont audition like a normal process, she says. We get to collaborate with the artists that we choose. We get to go find the talent we really believe in.
