Kelly Clarkson eyes country after pop hits
While Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) spends another week at No. 1 on USA TODAY's Top 40 and Hot AC charts, Kelly has worked up a fiddle-and-steel version of Mr. Know It Allwith Nashville producer Dann Huff to send to country radio. The new track will be available on iTunes April 3.
It won't be the first country single for Kelly, of course, she has had hit duets with Reba McEntire (Because of You) and Jason Aldean (Don't You Wanna Stay). She also has a house in Nashville.
Meanwhile, the country chart has plenty of Idols, with Carrie Underwood, Casey James and Lauren Alaina all in the top 30. Scotty McCreery's The Trouble With Girls has moved to recurrent status. That single drops out of the top 10 on the American Idol airplay chart this week, making room for Jennifer Hudson and Ne-Yo's Think Like a Man.
Other acts with charting singles this week: Adam Lambert, Ruben Studdard, Elliott Yamin and James Durbin.
Daughtry's new single, Outta My Head, makes its Idol airplay debut this week at No. 75. Kris Allen's The Vision of Lov! e m oves up from No. 85 to No. 68 on this week's chart.
