The stores opening celebrations began early on Saturday at the Village at Corte Madera. The official opening kicked off with free tickets distributed to see Kelly Clarkson perform later that afternoon for the first 2,000 or so people in line for the computer and software store opening. At 2:00 p.m. lines opened for fans to prepare for the American Idol, Kelly Clarkson live concert at 4:00 p.m. The opening celebrations continued Sunday with former 49ers wide receiver Jerry Rice playing Kinect with customers in the afternoon. Some 500 mostly young people, many of them drawn by the chance to get wristbands that would get them into a free outdoor concert by pop star Kelly Clarkson, were lined up outside the Microsoft store, its front facade covered by a giant company backdrop.
