Kelly Clarkson NAILS Her Cover Of Florence + The Machine's 'Shake It Out' (VIDEO)

Image
Kelly Clarkson totally dominates her cover of Florence & The Machine's "Shake It Out." Don't get me wrong -- I am ALL about Kelly Clarkson's original material (um, hello, her song " Dark Side " is up for a "Best Video With A Message VMA !), but this cover of Florence + The Machine 's "Shake It Out" is SO BOMB WE CAN'T EVEN TAKE IT. Maybe Kelly should think about putting out a covers record? Or performing at my wedding??? Watch Kelly Clarkson cover Florence & The Machine's "Shake It Out" after the jump. While out on her "Stronger" tour , Kellyhasbeen taking cover song requests via Twitter , cause really, who doesn't adore a well-done tribute? (Now that we think of it, wasn't that essentially what she did on American Idol? Cover songs? ::Puts two and two together::) Clarkson was a truemusical visionary when she covered Eminem's "Lose Yourself ," she was spot on for Britney Spears...

Kelly Clarkson tests boundaries of pop-starlet mould at Toronto show

Image
Kelly Clarkson RICHARD LAUTENS/TORONTO STAR Kelly Clarkson performs at the Molson Amphitheatre, August 28, 2012. As hateful and calculating and insipid as American Idol and the whole music-industrial complex can be, sometimes they get it right. And they got it right with Kelly Clarkson. Close enough to right, anyway. Clarkson doesnt represent a wholesale shattering of the conventional pop-starlet mould, no, but shes doing just fine gently testing its boundaries. You could tell the 30-year-old Fort Worth, TX, native was more rock chick than programmatic chart bait when she was vigorously busting out Janis Joplins Piece of Your Heart on her first victory lap as the first American Idol champ on tour in 2003, could tell she had some proper rock n roll mettle when she called out Clive Davis and the entire industry old boys club to the predictable detriment of her touring receipts and record sales during the fight to release her surprisingly tempestuous My December as she (kinda) wanted ...

Kelly Clarkson Covers TLC's 'No Scrubs'

Image
(Getty) Kelly Clarkson really is the coolest. This summer she's delivered a consistent stream of contemporary covers on tour, putting her own spin on everything from Eminem's "Lose Yourself" to Pink's "Perfect." At a performance in Bristow, Virginia last week, the first-ever American Idol winner showed off her multi-octave range with TLC's classic feminist anthem "No Scrubs." Clarkson has been taking audience requests for the entirety of her "Stronger" tour. She's even performed her own take on Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe," because at this point, who hasn't?
